Ales now on and coming soon

Writer: Roy GoodgerRoy Goodger

Many of you will see our regular posts on our socials about the ales we have on and what is coming soon. We try and rotate our offering as much as possible, as we have such a wealth of great breweries to choose from in East Anglia!

We have found that having three to four real ales on at any one time is the optimum level for the pub. We hate to throw it away, so by ensuring we have a selection that stays at this level is the best way to ensure it stays fresh and none of the brewer's hard work is wasted.

We will also be trialling rotating orders from our breweries going forwards. They're often a small business just like us and by ordering ales for the week from one brewery, we are working with them to minimise delivery costs. A drop where they can deliver at least three barrels to us at one time as opposed to the odd barrel each week helps them keep their costs lower, which keeps your pint price down.

The main breweries we will rotate are Lacons, Green Jack, Wolf and Woodforde's. We will also be looking at Oakham's and are also open to suggestions of a brewery you would like to see us try.

This week Wolf Brewery have the pumps with Wolf Ale, Granny Wouldn't Like It and the ever popular Edith Cavell. Conditioning in the cellar now we have a range from Green Jacks Brewery, with their Orange Wheat Beer, Trawler Boys and Golden Best ready to take over where the Wolf ales leave off. We also have some Abbott Ale to add as a stronger option.

Our aim is to offer a mix of strengths and flavour profiles, from light, to malty to darker ales. We haven't tried a stout yet, but we're open to ideas on any that you would love to see us put on as the nights start to draw in and a darker ale calls! Drop us a message or let us know when you pop in.
