Bus happy in its new home!

We're happy to share the donation of our double decker bus to The Ipswich Bus Shelter went ahead as planned on Tuesday, freeing up our car park space!

It marks a new chapter for the bus, which played a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic by enabling outdoor service when indoor gatherings were restricted.

Hammond Recovery Service arrived at the end of their busy working day to move the bus to its new location, all for free to support the charitable efforts. To their audience's amazement, they managed to get it started after three years of not moving from its place at The Duke. The plan was then to move it out onto the road and onto the recovery vehicle. All went (nearly) smoothly - we had a slight glitch when the bus decided to do a good impression of the Ever Given in the Suez Canal when it stalled on the road. However, after what seemed like the longest 15 minutes known to man, it was hitched up and out of the way! We do sincerely apologise for anyone we inconvenienced at the time.

Thankfully the remainder of the journey to The Ipswich Bus Shelter's yard went well and Gareth, co-founder of the organisation, has already started to get quotes for the refurbishment job. And at £1400 just for a new windscreen, they will need some help to raise the funds for this, so we will be organising as many opportunities as we can to help with these efforts.

We of course now have a much more usable car park, so if you need to drive out to us to try our new smokehouse menu or fab Sunday roasts, you can do so with the confidence you should be able to park safely!
